The Schattenlagant-Hütte has the advantage that it can be reached on foot from Brand and that also lies on the street, so you can take the bus back if, for instance, the weather is bad. We found that we practically only went there when the weather was bad.
It's actually quite a pretty walk when you get above Brand and it is not raining.
Much of the path follows the creek -- or torrent.
Really gogeous Berg-Flockenblume
At one point, the torrent has eroded a chasm through the rocks.
Here there is a hollow carved out by the water and known as the Kessel-Fall (Kessel = cauldron).
We learned that the sign saying the hut is 60 minutes ahead means that it is more like 90 minutes ahead.
Did we say rain?
Typical Schattenlagant weather
Path along the torrent
Higher up, the path climbs over some rocks alongside a small canyon.
Finally,some soup and a beer.
