The Sarotlatal is reached directly from Brand by (now) crossing the golf course and turning south. It is a beautiful walk, much of it in woods that are shady without being gloomy, and there are many Eisenhut to be seen. The Sarotlahütte itself is a very comfortable place to drink a beer, eat lunch and relax.
These days, you start by walking across tbe golf course and going up a slow-but-sure climb to the beginning of the Sarotlatal.
At first, the Sarotlaweg ascends through a piny wood.
The path through the woods is quite pretty.
Just after the first bridge, we always saw this curious flower, which -- for lack of any other name -- we called a White Bell.
In 2000, spring floods had carried lots of flotsam into the river course and broken up some bridges.
The water was still flowing quite fast.
This bridge was just recently rebuilt.
Farther up, after climbing quite a lot through the forest, one comes out onto this relatively flat plateau ..
... where there are lots of Eisenhut of various colors, like these Wolf-Eisenhut.
Eisenhut, or MOnkshood
And Enzian
Just above the plateau, there are (usually) three waterfalls.

Then you start a long series of steep zigzags upwards ...
... through a very pretty larch forest.
After what seems an interminable forest, you finally cross a creek and see the refuge ahead.

Good rest
On the way back across the golf course, finding four-leafed clovers!
