Dhulikhel

By the time we reached Dhulikhel, we were tired from intensive sight-seeing of Durbar Squares, temples and stupas and we were ready for some rest. Dhulikhel was an excellent choice. The Dhulikhel Lodge Resort, where we stayed, is probably a tad expensive, but it is a wonderful place to lay back, watch the scenery, eat well and sleep!

Our room, entered from the back, had a balcony with a splendid view over the hills and terraced fields. It was modern and clean and the beds were very comfortable! We had two wonderful meals, then settled in to wait and see what the next day would bring.

It brought dawn!

And a beautiful dawn it was. It was then that we actually saw the Himalayas in the distance. The previous afternoon, they had been hidden by the clouds.

Reluctantly taking leave of the Resort, we drove up the road a piece to look at the scenery, then back to Dhulikhel Village.

Dhulikhel is a Newari town, at least by its architecture, with red bricks and carved-wood decoration. Some young men were playing a game which looked a bit like craps, the way they threw a small object.

In a town along the road, we bought some bananas, since we expected to miss lunch. Then we went ot the shabby domestic airport, from which we flew to Pokhara.
