The Schillerkopf (2006m) and Mondspitze (1967m) are close together, separated only by a narrow ridge, west of the Alte-Statt-Weg, easily reached via Niggenkopf and the Parpfienzalp. They are pleasant walks, well worth the effort, and can be done the same day or -- as we did -- separately..
The Parpfienzweg starts out northward from the Parpfienzalp, reached by the Niggenkopfbahn.
After a fork, the main path becomes the Alte-Statt-Weg, with Schillerkopf towering above.
Leaving the main path and starting up towards the Schillerkopf
The Schillerkopf (2006m) is also called the Kessikopf.
Going up past Alpenrosen and evergreen trees
The path becomes steeper and crosses some scree.
The path climbs in an S-turn up to the peak.
Arrival at the top
View southwards towards Scesaplana
View northwards towards the path leading along the ridge to the Mondspitze
It was too crowded on top to stop there for lunch.
Coming down, you pass a big hole called the Kessiloch.
Looking back at Schiller's profile
Another day, we passed the Schillerkopf and headed for the ridge between it and the Mondspitze.
Reaching the ridge, left for Schillerkopf, right for Mondspitze.
