Schillerkopf and Mondspitze

The Schillerkopf (2006m) and Mondspitze (1967m) are close together, separated only by a narrow ridge, west of the Alte-Statt-Weg, easily reached via Niggenkopf and the Parpfienzalp. They are pleasant walks, well worth the effort, and can be done the same day or -- as we did -- separately..
The Parpfienzweg starts out northward from the Parpfienzalp, reached by the Niggenkopfbahn. sj85 27b065 After a fork, the main path becomes the Alte-Statt-Weg, with Schillerkopf towering above. sj85 27b070 Leaving the main path and starting up towards the Schillerkopf sj85 27b071 The Schillerkopf (2006m) is also called the Kessikopf. sj85 27b074
Going up past Alpenrosen and evergreen trees sj85 27b075 The path becomes steeper and crosses some scree. sj85 27b077 The path climbs in an S-turn up to the peak. sj85 28a001 Arrival at the top sj85 28a003
