In A Dream Play Strindberg invented Fair Haven and Foul Strand, two seaside resorts in the Stockholm archipelago. The sick are at Foul Strand (Skamsund) and the healthy at Fair Haven (Fagervik). This would be Foul Strand where Strindberg says the rich are since they have eaten too much goose liver and drunk too much Burgundy. The lovers find it a place of horror and they want to leave. Indra's daughter is in the foreground (right of center) and the Officer on the front left. | |
