Saarbrückener-Hütte

The walk to the Saarbrückener-Hütte begins at the Madlenerhaus, on the Silvretta Stausee at the southern end of the Montafon Valley. The walk climbs 700 meters, mostly over large rocks, and so is rather tiring. We were there in 1981and again in 1992.
The path is mostly through and across large rocks, requiring a special type of agility on this kind of terrain. We did not have it. br81 saarbrknr 02 a Where water ran beneath the rocks, there was a large area covered with moss. sj81 19b062 The hut is there on the ridge just above the middle of the photo. sj81 19b061 Flowers abound even in the midst of such a barren-seeming terrain. sj81 19b063
