The walk to the Saarbrückener-Hütte begins at the Madlenerhaus, on the Silvretta Stausee at the southern end of the Montafon Valley. The walk climbs 700 meters, mostly over large rocks, and so is rather tiring. We were there in 1981and again in 1992.
The path is mostly through and across large rocks, requiring a special type of agility on this kind of terrain. We did not have it.
Where water ran beneath the rocks, there was a large area covered with moss.
The hut is there on the ridge just above the middle of the photo.
Flowers abound even in the midst of such a barren-seeming terrain.
Siv, what are these?
The hut is close now, but still upwards from us.

Clouds crossed over for a while, so we moved inside.
Starting out from the Silvretta Stausee in 1992.
The beginning of the walk follows this U-shaped valley, then turns left and up.

The path leads across these rocks before ascending to towards the glacier and the hut, visible agains the horizon on the right.
The Saarbrückener-Hütte is quite a large refuge.

A dramatic look into the valley as we start back down.
