Chili con carne

500 g = 2.5 cups kidney beans If dried, soak overnite, then cook ~2 hours in
2.5 liters water, adding 1 Tbsp salt midway
through cooking
800g ground beef
~5 medium onions Brown meat and onions (separately) in oil;
season with salt  and pepper
800g peeled tomatos Add beans, seasonings, tomatos and sauce
600g tomato sauce
140g tomato paste
2 bay leaves
lots chili powder
2 large cloves mashed garlic
Cook ~ 2 hours
